The Work PROCESS

01.

We start by filling out the brief and discussing your project, your requirements, and all the other details needed to start the work

02.

After we make sure I know everything about the project, we’ll get down to the prepayment part and sign a contract (if necessary)

03.

Next, I’ll start drawing the first b&w sketches and send them to you so that we discuss them and choose the right direction

04.

When the direction is approved, I’ll create the fully-fledged character designs and send them for your approval

05.

After the final designs are approved, I’ll go on with the rendering and colorization

06.

Finally, I’ll send you the final designs in your desired format, and we’ll close our project

What is sketching?

When all the project details are discussed and the contract terms are decided, we’ll start the sketching process. It begins with the creation of several concepts of black and white sketches. This is the most important process of our work – the decision of the form, style, and overall composition of your project.

During this process, I will select several references and create moodboards to determine the right direction for your project. Next, we’ll review the moodboards, choose one version, and I’ll work on refining it. After I finish it, I’ll send you the final result, and if you approve it, we’ll move on to the next stage.

COLORING &
RENDERING

What is coloring & rendering about?

This stage is about creating a clean version of the illustration with all the small details. During this stage, I add colors, shades, hatching, and highlights. Depending on where the illustration will be used, I may also add textures and effects.

At this phase, it’s important to discuss with the client for which purposes they will use the illustration and what file format they will need. If the illustration will be used for print, we’ll need to use a high-resolution raster or vector format. If the illustration will be used for the web or digital media, a lower resolution and smaller file size will be more appropriate.

In order to reach your goals, it is essential to consider the end use of the illustration and the desired outcome, which we will all discuss during the first stages of our collaboration.

These character development and design services are designed to bring your most creative visions to life. You, as a client, will always be aware of how the process goes. I will work closely with you to understand all your project requirements and create visually stunning illustrations that will exceed your expectations.

I specialize in a wide range of illustration styles, from realistic to cartoonish. So, I can create illustrations for various mediums such as books, comics, websites, and more. Just contact me with the details of your project, and we’ll bring it to life together.

A sketch file – a rough, black-and-white drawing of the character that the artist uses for the development of the character before creating the final version.

One round of revision – which means the client can request one set of changes or adjustments to the final version of the character design before we close the project.

Unfortunately, this offer does not include unlimited character concepts and revisions. As mentioned above, I will create several concepts during the sketching phase, and then you’ll review and choose one version so that I can work on refining it.

Also, when I create the final version of the character, you will get one round of revision, during which you can request to make some changes to the design. After I complete these changes, you will receive the finalized character design, and we will close our project.

  • Information about your company, the description of what it does, its industry, and target audience
  • Any initial draft ideas or sketches of what the character should look like and express
  • Any doodles or designs you have seen that you liked, or any particular shape and color preferences you may have
  • Guidelines or logotype, etc.

On average, I deliver all the components of the package within one – three weeks.

Though, the timeline can change depending on factors like how fast the client gives the feedback or how many concepts and revisions will be needed.

What refers to the payment, after we discuss the project details and sign a contract, the client needs to make a prepayment. The other part of the payment will be made after I deliver the final version of the illustration. Further details regarding the payment will be discussed individually with the client.

I am self-employed and work on a freelance basis. As there are too many factors that can influence the contract, we’ll discuss all the contract and documentation details individually.

Nowadays, characters are needed not only for cartoons and comics but for brands too. You can find characters everywhere: on websites and packaging, in films, in advertising and mailing lists of companies, etc.

However, character design and development is quite a time-consuming and challenging process. Before you jump straight into developing it, you need to first understand for what purpose you want to create a character and what importance it will have to your brand, ad campaign, book, story, etc.

When you know the answers to these questions, you can start creating the story of the character and decide what the character would look like, its personality, and its features. Then you also need to think about how the character expresses their emotions, what their movements look like, and generally how they behave.

All of this information will help you and the designer better understand the character and make it highly tailored to your brand, story, or book.

Doodles are needed everywhere: on websites and packaging, in films, advertising and mailing lists of companies. To develop it, you need to know:

  1. Understand why a doodle is being created
  2. Evaluate the importance of the character
  3. Come up with a character story
  4. Describe what the character looks like
  5. Think over the character of the character
  6. Highlight doodle features
  7. Understand how a character expresses emotions
  8. Think through the character’s movements

doodle Brief

The first step is to understand why the character is being created. The answer to this question should always be the starting point because the characteristics and appearance of the character depend on the goals. Think about:

The second step in developing a logo illustration is to determine the theme or subject of the illustration. Typically, this includes creating a sketch of the logo and an accompanying design or pattern. The theme of the illustration should be reflective of the company's business or industry. For example, a financial company may choose to depict imagery related to money, banks, or businesspeople in suits.
